Tabloid Watch is a new blog I've only just come across. What it's got on there today is a classic tabloid bollocks story. What it shows is that our much-loved tabs would much rather write the story they want to write - that it's all the fault of those bleeding Muslims - rather than what's actually the truth. Now for all we know that may be the truth, what they've claimed, but no-one's managed to prove it's the truth; what they're sure of it's a better story if they make out that it's the truth. It's lazy, shite and ridiculous.
Speaking of which, oh look, the Star are pretending that it was a complete oopsy and accident that they wrote the headline "PEACHES: SPEND A NIGHT WITH ME FOR £5,000". Yes, what a complete accident. Oh yeah, I suppose you could, in a certain light, think that meant she was a whore, as opposed to the much more obvious meaning, the one that jumps out at you: that she was supposedly demanding a fee to attend certain events. But that was wrong as well anyway! Luckily, the press has the completely spineless, toothless and brainless PCC to defend its interests above those of readers adjudicate on these matters, and so a front-page apology has been avoided. Phew!
Speaking of people being able to give judgment on themselves, Justin points out that the people deciding whether Britain was complicit in torture are... those who are implicated in it. Well that'll sort out the truth of the matter, I'm sure.
Rhetorically Speaking points out that wanting justice for child sex abuse victims isn't the same thing as a cynical attempt to bankrupt the Catholic church.
Dave Hill has a story about Labour's electioneering antics vis-a-vis the BNP.
Robert Peston says it's a bad thing to bar immigrants from a level playing field when it comes to certain jobs.
And we return where we started, with the tabs. Septicisle writes about the Sun's chutzpah in claiming to take the moral high ground over the Madeleine McCann affair.
*update* And I couldn't ignore this - David Neiwert takes down Chuck Norris. Wow, it's not often you see Norris get pwn3d.
