Inside the mind of the Express

Every now and then, when I have some quiet time, I like to do one of two things. The first is to take five minutes to appreciate the wonderful world in which we live - the dew-covered spider webs; the mist rising gently off the river at the end of my road as dawn breaks; the warm glow of the sun in the early afternoon, just a few puffy white clouds sliding across a beautiful pure blue sky - and be thankful for all the pleasant things there are in the world.

The alternative is to delve into the Express website to remind myself just how vile, destructive, misanthropic, callous, unpleasant and hurtful humanity can be. Which isn't as bad as it sounds: it certainly puts those pleasant things into sharp focus and makes you appreciate them a little bit more.

Anyway, here are the questions. See if you can spot any hint of an agenda going on here:

•Have you had enough of high taxes and poor services?
•Is Gordon Brown a laughing stock?
•Should Labour halt the war on motorists?
•Are we living in a Big Brother state?
•Should doomed Brown take the hint and quit?
•Is 'nanny' Brown just full of hot air?
•Are rubbish fines just a way of ripping us off?
•Have you been badly affected by the dismal property market?
•Is the growing pensions divide totally unfair?
•Is Labour incompetence to blame for crisis?
•Has Brown betrayed hardworking Britons?
•Is it fair to make us work until we drop?
Are you sick of the EU meddling in British affairs?
Were you duped by Gordon Brown's speech?
Would you vote for a Government that could sort out Britain's bin chaos?

What 'bin chaos' is this? Fortnightly collections? Oh noes! You mean actually having to sort stuff out rather than chucking every fucking thing in the world into landfill...? How dare they!

Anyway, let's have a look and see if people were duped by Gordon Brown's speech. Do you think they're going to say (a) Actually, I don't think Gordon Brown's speech was designed to dupe anybody, least of all me, or (b) Yes, I was duped by it, I was completely fooled, that cunning old fox Mr Brown, he's too bright for me!

DUPED?...........
25.09.08, 9:49pm
I would have to have the IQ of an amoeba to be duped by that ****.
Unfortunately there seems to be a large minority of people in Britain who have precisely that intellect.
The ones who will still vote labour.

A comprehensive point-by-point rebuttal of the speech, there. How can you argue against that?

WHO TO GOVEN US
25.09.08, 7:35pm
Just done a search on the net
Since 1762 there have been 15 governmenst run by the Torys
23 by the conservatives from 1852
And only 8 by labour!
Who do you think has the best experts to be running this country!
Combine the Torys and Conservatives and you have 38 terms in office as Government.

This is why I love the Express website. Absolute brilliance, verging on genius. Because the Tories of the 18th century are certainly comparable with the modern-day Conservatives, aren't they?

"DUPED?"

Er - NO ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

Good for you, Bulgaria. How about Madame Cholet? Has she been duped?

25.09.08, 11:42am

...he sucks in his bottom lip, I wonder of it means he is telling a lie!.. No, I didn't believe a word of his speech, it was all spin. This morning in America he has announced that he is giving 5 MILLION POUNDS to Malaria treatment, AND 40 MILLION POUNDS to anti- Malariaia drugs in Africa, that is ON TOP of Free Computers, FREE Theatre Ticks and FREE School Meals, WHERE is all this money coming from? Us poor taxpayers. It is OUR money he is spending !!! STOP spending OUR money on these stupid scemes,
• Posted by: Disgruntled • Report Comment

Exactly. Let those who could suffer from malaria just die - then that would make everything a lot better. India, Bangladesh - it's not as if they are countries with any historical ties to Britain, is it? And if we have the money to stop children dying a totally preventable death, why should we? If it means 5p off one man's lifetime tax bill, then that's clearly more important! Free anti-malarial drugs for Brits!

SPEECH

the only important speech that that **** can give is his resignation speech. And that day cannot come soon enough

Yeah you tell em Thor.

GET OUT WHILE IT IS STILL LEGAL ......
24.09.08, 11:41pm
Some of us already have done so , Families and loved ones away and safe from harm ,
Only the unwitting and unfortunate remain in the 'remenants' of a Once Great Britain

Good, fuck off. I always wonder what expats like these are expecting - the rest of us to squeal "Oh please don't go, we love you really"? The irony is I know plenty of expats who are intelligent and decent human beings. Clearly they have better things to do than bark at the 'remenants' of a Once Great Britain on the Express messageboard, though.

But I rather think you along with him are living on a parallel universe....because i have news for you.......ITS ALREADY BEEN HAPPENING....!!!
the only thing that is different is professionals and the highly skilled have not gone only to Scotland but to other parts of the world too...and the immigrants have already come and taken the jobs...!!

Hooray! Ding ding ding! Ring the big "immigration finally mentioned in Express thread" bell - it seemed for a moment that we weren't going to get there, but of course I was mad to think that. At last, the immigrants taking 'all' the jobs had to pop up at some point.

OF COURSE.

It was the greatest speech from a degenerate, mentally retarded **** I have ever heard.
• Posted by: bluenote • Report Comment

Ah yes, the 'Brown is a retard' meme. Littlejohn picked up that particular ball and ran with that in the shit-shower that is his column last week. Look, Brown isn't mad, OK? He isn't 'mental'. And if he were, wouldn't that be reason to celebrate that someone with such difficulties had been able to ascend to the highest position in British democracy? I think it would be wonderful. But he isn't. He isn't a 'retard' and it's pretty fucking tiresome to read scoffing pricks saying he is. Call him shit, call him an idiot, call him useless, but a retard? No.

WAS THAT REALLY GORDO OR A WHITE OBAMA ???
24.09.08, 6:16pm
GOD oops so sorry meant GORDO's speech was as good as it can get..for him and LYING NULABOOR..in fact LYING is the ONLY thing they are good at!! They had a great master of deceit with PHONY TONE to show them how.
Let me advise BRUIN not to open his big fat stupid mouth when in the US.They have had enough of listening to idiots as having had Bush for 8years.Noone cares about UK and its 3rd world policies the US is interested in its own election not the problems of no.10.
His speech was trying too hard tbe seen as a natural 'leader' which Brown never can be.The copy-cat tactics of having 'the wife' show up and kissing etc. poached from Obama.WELL Sarah and Gord you're NO Michelle and Obama.
Obama is smart, intelligent and a natural in front of the camera,Brown will not convince anyone of Labour's success in the future EXCEPT the voters who have benefited from the past 111years, some perhaps live in MIddle Britain but most people who are intelligent, understand economy, have lived under another 'party' in the past and want to see Britain restored to its true values and not as some satellite of the 3rd world will NEVER be fooled into believing a word that comes out of Laboor's Mouth. Labour's very worst policies are creating a "dependent nanny state' mentality and now all that entails is coming home to roost in the social aspects of life.Massive crime, too many disadvantaged youth, too many non speaking new arrivals which compound the problem because its tough enough for educated English speaking people to survive the vast theft by taxes that Labour has installed. So many attemptsat trying to reduce everyone to same level. What about the people who are not"Middle Britain" well if the Tories dont win next election they should cut and run.No future in UK.The damage is done even now but will the Tories be able to reverse all the damage??I believe they can if the public and the dreaded 'UNIONS" will co-operate as its going to very difficult.

Ha ha! I laughed out loud at that. Brilliant.

WERE YOU DUPED BY GORDON BROWN'S SPEECH?
24.09.08, 5:42pm
No I turn him of as soon as he comes on the box.

Hmm, fine. But - this was about Brown's speech. "No I wasn't duped, I turned it off!" - OK, but you can't really comment on this thread, can you? Well, not that it's stopped any of the others, mind...

SPEECH?.
24.09.08, 12:42pm
I thought it was a monologue of dopey duplicity by a dumb and devious degenerate. Inspired by wifey. it made me need a check to see if the after effects could lead to cancer of the stomach. Fortunately I survived Hope the rest of you did.

Unfortunately, you did survive, 'bluenote'. Ah well, hopefully the next one will put you in an early grave.

  1. I don’t look at the mail/express sites because afaik there isn’t a stat counter that can distinguish between someone visiting their sites to ‘learn’ about the world and when they’re simply there to laugh at the idiocy of their articles, and I don’t want to do anything that will boost the ‘readership’ for those arse-rags. So I have a question; was there this much bile and hysterical hatred of Blair found in the comments section when he was arseing around as PM, or is there something special about Brown? Or have intellects simply dropped off sharply all of a sudden? Are things really so much worse under Brown than under Blair? Cos I can barely tell the fracking difference.
